What roof does this box gutter guard kit suit?
This 500mm-wide kit is built specifically for TrimDek-profile box gutters, where the wider 500mm mesh spans the larger box gutter channel. If your roof has unusual box gutters or odd widths, we build custom kits to suit, just call us on 1300 156 197.
How do I install it on a box gutter?
The roof side installs like a standard Trimdek gutter (saddles at 6 per metre, with a 5cm relief cut under each saddle). The gutter side connects to your parapet wall with the trims provided — L-shaped for the top of the parapet, flat to attach lower down its face. Most important: plug every temporary screw hole. The mesh-holding screws come out when the trims go on, and because parapet tops are flat and water can pool, any unplugged hole under the trim can cause extensive damage — plug each one.
What does the 4mm mesh actually stop?
The 4mm aluminium mesh (3mm x 4mm aperture) stops leaves, twigs, general debris, birds and mice. Being honest, it minimises rather than eliminates buildup: very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still sit on top or pass through, so no guard makes a gutter completely maintenance-free.
Will this keep possums out of my roof?
No. Possums need a steel mesh, as a determined possum will rip straight through aluminium, and we have seen them do exactly that to get back to their young. If possums are your concern, give us a call: we can source a steel kit on request.
What's in the kit?
Each kit includes the 500mm 4mm aluminium mesh, saddles and clips from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®, Colorbond-matched trims, and Class-3 self-drilling screws. It is a complete DIY package with the fixings matched to the profile.
How is it sold, and can you cut a custom width?
Mesh is sold in 10-metre increments, not by the single metre. We can cut custom mesh widths for a small $25-per-roll cut fee if your box gutter needs something other than the standard 500mm, just ask when you order.
What colours can I get and why does the steel quality matter?
The full Colorbond-matched colour range is available, except a few discontinued colours the steel suppliers no longer offer. We use locally-sourced steel from leading Australian suppliers because cheap overseas imports can look fine at first but fade fast and their screw coatings go rusty-red; our local steel and premium powder coating resist fading and are salt-spray tested past 1000 hours for coastal durability.
What does the 20-year warranty cover?
The 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself, meaning the mesh and coating breaking down or fading over time. It does not cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, since a gutter guard is about minimising maintenance, not removing it entirely.
What about shipping and installation?
Shipping is free on orders over $500 and a flat $20 under that, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse with 1 to 7 days delivery to metro areas. The kit is designed for DIY: follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time.
