Frequently Asked Questions
What roof does this 500mm box gutter kit suit?
It's built specifically for box gutters and the wide 4mm corrugated profile, with a 500mm-wide mesh to span the larger opening of a box gutter. If your box gutter is an unusual size or shape, call us on 1300 156 197 and we'll build a custom kit to fit.
How do I install it on a box gutter?
The roof side installs like a standard corrugated gutter (saddles on every second corrugation, 7 per metre). The gutter side connects to your parapet wall with the trims provided — an L-shaped trim suits the top of the parapet, a flat trim suits attaching lower down its face. Most important: plug every temporary screw hole. The screws that hold the mesh while you fit the trims come out afterwards, and because parapet tops are flat and water can pool there, any unplugged hole left under the trim can cause extensive damage. Plug each one as you go.
What's actually in the kit?
You get the 4mm aluminium gutter guard mesh (3mm x 4mm aperture) plus the saddles and clips from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®, Colorbond-matched trims, and Class-3 self-drilling screws to fix it all down. Everything to do the run is in the box, sold in 10-metre increments.
What does the 4mm mesh keep out?
The 3mm x 4mm aperture stops leaves, twigs, debris, birds and mice, so it's your standard leaf and debris protection. Being honest: gutter guard minimises, it doesn't eliminate, so very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still get through or sit on top.
Will this stop possums getting into my roof?
No, aluminium mesh won't stop a determined possum. We've seen possums rip straight through aluminium to get back to their young, so if possums are your concern you need steel mesh. We can source a steel kit on request, just give us a call.
What colours can I get, and can you cut a custom width?
We carry the full Colorbond-matched colour range bar a few discontinued shades the steel suppliers no longer offer. The mesh comes 500mm wide for box gutters, but we can cut custom widths for a small $25-per-roll cut fee.
Why is your guard worth more than the cheap stuff online?
We use locally-sourced steel from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope® with a premium powder coating, so it resists fading and is salt-spray tested past 1000 hours for coastal jobs. Cheap overseas imports often look fine at first but fade fast and their screw coatings can turn rusty-red.
What does the 20-year warranty actually cover?
The 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself, meaning the mesh and coating breaking down or fading over time. It doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, since gutter guard is about minimising maintenance, not a permanent no-clean fix.
How does shipping and DIY install work?
Shipping is free over $500 or a flat $20 under, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse, usually 1 to 7 days to metro areas. The kit is designed for DIY, so follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time.
