Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 250mm width right for my roof?
The 250mm roll is sized for metal roofs - corrugated, Trimdek and Klip-Lok profiles - where it bridges from the gutter lip up onto the first pan. If you've got a tiled roof, valleys or box gutters, a wider roll usually suits better - give us a call on 1300 156 197 with your roof type and we'll match you to the right width before you order.
What does the 4mm mesh actually keep out?
The 4mm aperture (3mm x 4mm) stops leaves, twigs, general debris, birds and mice - it's your standard leaf and debris protection. Being honest: gutter guard minimises blockage, it doesn't eliminate it, so very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still sit on top or work through. If wind-borne embers are your concern, you want our 2mm Ember Guard instead (2mm x 2mm aperture), which also catches finer debris.
This is "mesh only" - what else do I need?
Mesh-only rolls are just the aluminium mesh, so you'll supply your own fixings, or step up to a full kit if you want the saddles, clips, trims and screws matched to your roof. Mesh-only suits DIYers who already have fixings sorted or are patching an existing run; if you're not sure, call us on 1300 156 197 and we'll point you the right way.
How is it sold and can I get a custom width?
It's sold in 10-metre increments (this listing is one 10m roll), not by the single metre. If 250mm isn't quite right we can cut a custom width for a small $25-per-roll cut fee - just get in touch before ordering.
Will aluminium mesh stop possums?
No - aluminium won't stop a determined possum, and we've seen jobs where possums have ripped straight through aluminium to get back to their young in the roof. If possums are the issue you need a steel mesh; we can source steel kits on request, so give us a call on 1300 156 197 before you order.
I just want to keep birds out - do I need to mesh the valleys too?
For bird protection you only need guard on the gutters themselves - you don't need to mesh the valleys. So meshing just the gutters does the job and keeps your spend down. If your roof's a bit unusual, call us on 1300 156 197 and we'll talk it through.
How long does it last, and what does the warranty cover?
We use locally-sourced steel from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®, with a premium powder coating that's salt-spray tested past 1000 hours - cheaper overseas imports often look fine at first but fade fast and their screw coatings go rusty-red. Our 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself (the mesh and coating breaking down or fading); it doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, since guard is about minimising maintenance, not eliminating it.
What colours are available and how much is shipping?
Colours are Colorbond-matched across the full range, bar a few discontinued shades the steel suppliers no longer offer. Shipping is free over $500 and a flat $20 under that, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse - usually same or next business day, with metro delivery around 1 to 7 days.
