Frequently Asked Questions

What roof type is the 250mm width for?
The 250mm roll suits corrugated, Trimdek and Klip-Lok roofs — it runs from the gutter lip up over the first ridge or pan. For tiled roofs step up to the 500mm. If you're trying to carry leaf protection across tile valleys, the wider 750mm or 1000mm covers more ground. Box gutters and unusual roof setups are best handled with a custom kit — give us a call on 1300 156 197 and we'll build one to suit rather than guessing a stock width.
What does the 4mm aluminium mesh actually stop?
The 3mm x 4mm aperture keeps out leaves, twigs, general debris, birds and mice — it's our standard leaf and debris protection. Be honest with yourself though: gutter guard minimises maintenance, it doesn't eliminate it, so very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still sit on top or work through. There's no true 'never clean again' fix short of having no gutter at all.
How is it sold — per metre or in rolls?
It's sold in 10-metre (10m) increments, not per metre, so order the number of 10m lengths you need. If you want a non-standard width we can custom-cut a roll for a small $25-per-roll cut fee — just call 1300 156 197.
This is "mesh only" — what else do I need to install it?
Mesh-only is just the roll, so you'll also need the saddles, clips, trims and screws to fix it down. If you'd rather not piece it together, we build full kits with everything matched and included — and for unusual roofs or box gutters we put together custom kits on request. It's designed for DIY: follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time.
Will this aluminium mesh keep possums and embers out?
No on possums — a determined possum will rip straight through aluminium to get back to the roof, and we've seen exactly that on jobs where they were trying to reach their young. Possums need a steel mesh; we can source steel kits on request, so give us a call if that's the concern. And for bushfire ember protection you want our 2mm Ember Guard (2mm x 2mm aperture) rather than this 4mm — the 4mm is your leaves, debris, birds and mice option.
Do I need to mesh the valleys too if birds are my main concern?
For birds, you generally only need guard on the gutters, not the valleys — many suppliers will upsell valley mesh you may not actually need, so leaving the valleys off can save you money. The exception is if you're specifically chasing leaf protection through the valleys, which is a different job — but purely for keeping birds out, the gutter line does it.
Why choose this over a cheaper imported mesh?
Our guard is built around locally-sourced steel components from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®, with a premium powder coating that's salt-spray tested past 1000 hours for coastal durability. Cheap overseas imports can look fine on day one but fade fast, and their screw coatings can go rusty-red — local steel and proper coating are why ours lasts. The mesh and coating are backed by our 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty.
What does the warranty cover, and what about shipping?
The 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself — the mesh and coating breaking down or fading — but not damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, since gutter guard is about minimising maintenance, not a permanent no-maintenance fix. Shipping is free over $500 and a flat $20 under that, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse, typically 1–7 days to metro areas.
