Frequently Asked Questions

What does the 1000mm width suit — is it the right size for my roof?
The 1000mm is our widest mesh in this range — it's the one to reach for when you need to span a wide opening, like tile valleys or large box gutters, rather than a standard gutter run. Narrower widths suit tighter or standard runs. Roof types and gutter profiles vary a lot, so if you're not sure which width fits your setup, give us a call on 1300 156 197 and we'll talk it through and even build a custom kit for an unusual roof or box gutter if needed.
What does the 4mm mesh actually keep out?
The 4mm range (3mm x 4mm aperture) stops leaves, twigs, general debris, birds and mice — the standard leaf and debris protection. Be honest with yourself though: gutter guard minimises, it doesn't eliminate, so very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still pass through or sit on top.
Will this stop embers in a bushfire area, or possums?
No — for wind-borne embers you want our 2mm Ember Guard (2mm x 2mm aperture), which also catches finer debris. And aluminium won't stop a determined possum; we've seen possums tear straight through aluminium to get back to their young, so if possums are the concern you need a steel option (we can source steel kits on request — call 1300 156 197).
This is mesh only — what's NOT included?
Mesh-only is exactly that: the roll of aluminium mesh, no saddles, clips, trims or screws. It's ideal if you already have fixings or just need to top up an existing run; if you want everything to do the job in one go, look at our full kits instead.
How is it sold, and can I get a custom width?
It's sold in 10-metre (10m) increments, not per metre, so order the number of 10m lengths you need. If 1000mm isn't quite right we can cut a custom width for a small $25-per-roll cut fee — call us on 1300 156 197 to arrange it.
Why is your aluminium mesh worth it over cheap imports?
We pair our mesh with a premium powder coating built for Australian conditions — it's salt-spray tested past 1000 hours for coastal durability and resists the fading you often see on cheaper overseas imports that look fine at first then go dull. It's also AS 3959-2018 compliant, CSIRO tested and non-combustible, suitable across BAL ratings.
Quick tip — do I need valley mesh if I'm mainly keeping birds out?
If birds are your main concern, the guard only needs to go on the gutters, not the valleys — so you can often skip the valley mesh some people get upsold and save yourself money. Happy to talk through your roof on 1300 156 197 if you're unsure.
What's the warranty and shipping?
It carries our 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty, which covers degradation of the material itself — the mesh and coating breaking down or fading — but not damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, since guards are about minimisation not zero maintenance. Shipping is free over $500 (flat $20 under), dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse with 1-7 days to metro areas.
