Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 2mm Ember Guard mesh and what does it stop?
It's our fire-rated mesh with a fine 2mm x 2mm aperture, designed to stop wind-borne embers plus finer debris, on top of the usual leaves, twigs, birds and mice. It's the choice when bushfire ember protection is your priority rather than just leaf control. It's AS 3959-2018 compliant and CSIRO tested, made from non-combustible aluminium suitable across BAL ratings. Honest note: gutter guard minimises the matter that gets into your gutter, it doesn't eliminate it entirely, so very fine material like seeds or blossom can still sit on top.
Why is the 250mm width the right one for me?
The 250mm roll is our narrower width, suited to runs where you only need to bridge a shorter span from the roof edge to the front of the gutter. The right width really depends on your specific roof and gutter setup, so if you're unsure which width suits your roof, give us a call on 1300 156 197 and we'll point you to the right one — and we build custom kits for unusual roofs or box gutters on request.
Is this just the mesh, or a full kit?
This is mesh only, no saddles, clips, trims or screws included. If you want everything to install in one go, look at our full kits instead; mesh-only suits customers topping up an existing run or sourcing their own fixings.
How is it sold, and can you cut a custom width?
It's sold in 10-metre (10m) increments, not per metre, so order the number of 10m rolls you need. We can also cut custom mesh widths for a small $25-per-roll cut fee, and we build custom kits for unusual roofs or box gutters on request — just call 1300 156 197.
Will this keep birds and mice out too?
Yes, the fine 2mm aperture stops birds and mice as well as embers and debris. One honest tip though, if birds are your only concern you generally only need mesh on the gutters, not the valleys, so don't pay for valley mesh you may not need.
What about possums?
Aluminium mesh won't stop a determined possum — we've had jobs where possums ripped straight through aluminium to get back to their young in the roof. If possums are the issue you need a steel mesh; we can source steel kits on request, so give us a call on 1300 156 197 and we'll sort the right option for you.
How long does it last and what's the warranty cover?
We use locally-sourced steel for our trims and fittings from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®, with a premium powder coating that's salt-spray tested over 1000 hours, so it resists the fading you see on cheap overseas imports where the coating dulls and the screws can go rusty-red. The 20-year industry-leading warranty covers degradation of the material and coating itself; it does not cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect — and remember gutter guard minimises maintenance rather than eliminating it entirely.
What does shipping cost and how fast is it?
Shipping is free on orders over $500 and a flat $20 under that, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse with metro delivery usually within 1 to 7 days. Most orders go out same or next business day depending on stock. It's designed for DIY, so follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time.
