Frequently Asked Questions

What roof does the 4mm Klip-Lok kit suit, and what's in it?
It's built for Klip-Lok (standing-seam) metal roofs, so the clips are designed to grip the Klip-Lok rib without piercing the sheet. The kit includes your 4mm aluminium mesh, the saddles/clips (steel from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®), Colorbond-matched trims, and Class-3 self-drilling screws — everything you need to fasten the run.
How do I install this Klip-Lok kit?
This kit fixes the mesh straight to the roof — no saddles. Roll the mesh out and fit the trims to the gutter first. Cut the mesh (or order a custom width) so it overhangs the sheet by only a couple of centimetres. At each high point make two vertical cuts either side and fold the small 2–3cm-wide flap of mesh up toward the sky, push the mesh flat onto the sheet, then screw it directly into the sheet — only where the sheet overhangs the gutter, so any leak drains into the gutter. Finally, push each folded flap into the open hole at the top of the Klip-Lok rib to block mice from getting into the roof space.
What does the 4mm aperture actually stop?
The 4mm range (3mm x 4mm aperture) keeps out leaves, twigs and general debris, and it also blocks birds and mice from getting into the roof cavity. Be honest with yourself though — gutter guard minimises debris, it doesn't eliminate it; very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still sit on top or work through.
Will this keep possums out of my roof?
No — aluminium mesh won't stop a determined possum, and we've seen jobs where they've ripped straight through it to get back to their young. If possums are your concern you need a steel mesh option; we can source steel kits on request, so give us a call on 1300 156 197 before you order.
I just want to stop birds — do I need to mesh the valleys too?
For bird protection you generally only need guard on the gutters themselves, not the valleys — so don't feel you have to pay for valley mesh you won't use. If you'd like a hand working out exactly what your roof needs, call us and we'll talk it through honestly.
How is it sold, and can I get custom widths or colours?
Mesh is sold in 10-metre (10m) increments rather than per metre, and we can cut custom widths for a small $25-per-roll cut fee. The full Colorbond-matched colour range is available apart from a few discontinued shades the steel suppliers no longer offer — and we build custom kits for unusual roofs or box gutters on request.
What makes your guard last longer than the cheap stuff online?
We use locally-sourced steel from leading Australian suppliers (including BlueScope®) with a premium powder coating that's salt-spray tested past 1000 hours for coastal durability. Cheap overseas imports can look fine out of the box but fade fast and their screw coatings can go rusty-red — our local steel and coating resist that.
What does the 20-year warranty cover?
The 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself — the mesh and coating breaking down or fading over time. It doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect; gutter guard is about minimising maintenance, not a permanent no-clean fix. The product is AS 3959-2018 compliant, CSIRO tested and non-combustible.
Is it DIY, and how does shipping work?
Yes, the kit is designed for DIY — just follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time. Shipping is free over $500 and a flat $20 under $500, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse same or next business day, with most metro orders arriving in 1–7 days.
