Frequently Asked Questions
What roof does the 4mm Klip-Lok Box Gutter Guard Kit suit?
It's built for box gutters paired with Klip-Lok (standing-seam) roofing, with the mesh cut to a 500mm width to span the wider box-gutter channel. If your roof or box gutter is an unusual size, we cut custom kits on request - just call 1300 156 197.
How do I install it on a box gutter?
The roof side installs like a standard Klip-Lok run (mesh screwed directly to the sheet, with the fold-up flaps pushed into each rib to block mice). The gutter side connects to your parapet wall with the trims provided — L-shaped for the top of the parapet, flat to attach lower down. Most important: plug every temporary screw hole; the mesh-holding screws come out when the trims go on, and because parapet tops are flat and water can pool, an unplugged hole under the trim can cause extensive damage.
What's actually in the kit?
Each kit includes the 4mm aluminium mesh (3mm x 4mm aperture), the saddles and clips to suit Klip-Lok and box-gutter profiles (steel components from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®), Colorbond-matched trims, and Class-3 self-drilling screws. Everything you need to fit it yourself in one box.
What does the 4mm mesh keep out - and what gets through?
The 4mm aperture stops leaves, twigs, general debris, birds and mice, which covers most box-gutter blockages. Being honest: gutter guard minimises maintenance, it doesn't eliminate it - very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still pass through or sit on top, so the odd clean is still a good idea.
Will this stop possums getting into my roof?
No - aluminium mesh won't stop a determined possum, and we've seen them rip straight through it to get back to their young in the roof. If possums are your concern you need a steel option; we can source steel kits on request, so give us a call before ordering.
How is it sold, and can you cut a different width?
Mesh is sold in 10-metre increments (not per metre). This kit comes at 500mm wide for box gutters, but we can cut custom widths for a small $25-per-roll cut fee if your channel is wider or narrower.
What colours can I get, and how long does the coating last?
Full Colorbond-matched colour range is available, bar a few discontinued shades the steel suppliers no longer offer. We use locally-sourced steel with a premium powder coating that's salt-spray tested past 1000 hours - cheap overseas imports can look fine at first but fade fast and their screw coatings go rusty-red, which is exactly what our local steel avoids.
What's covered by the warranty?
The 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself - the mesh and coating breaking down or fading. It doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail, or neglect, since gutter guard is about minimisation, not a permanent no-maintenance fix.
How does shipping work and can I install it myself?
Free shipping over $500, otherwise a flat $20, dispatched same or next business day from our Gold Coast warehouse - usually 1-7 days to metro areas. It's designed for DIY: follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time.
