Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 500mm width right for my roof?
500mm is our most popular all-rounder — it suits tile roofs and most standard box gutters. If you have a corrugated, Trimdek or Klip-Lok profile, the narrower 250mm usually fits better, and for wide tile valleys or large box gutters you'd want 750mm or 1000mm.
What does the 4mm aperture actually keep out?
The 4mm range (3mm x 4mm aperture) stops leaves, twigs, general debris, birds and mice. Be honest with yourself though — gutter guard minimises blockages, it doesn't eliminate them; very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still sit on top or work through over time.
How is this sold and can I get a custom width?
Mesh is sold in 10-metre (10m) increments, not by the single metre, so order in lots of 10m. If you need a width other than our standard sizes, we can custom-cut a roll for a small $25-per-roll cut fee.
What's the difference between mesh-only and a full kit?
This is mesh-only — just the aluminium roll, ideal if you already have your saddles, clips, trims and screws or you're matching an existing setup. If you want everything to install in one go, look at our full kits, or call us on 1300 156 197 and we'll build a custom kit for unusual roofs or box gutters.
Will this stop possums, or do I need something fitted to my valleys?
For possums you need steel mesh — aluminium won't stop a determined possum (we've seen them rip straight through it to get back to their young), so call us and we can source a steel option. And a handy tip for birds: guard only needs to go on the gutters, not the valleys, so you don't have to pay for valley mesh you may not need.
Should I go 4mm or step up to the 2mm Ember Guard?
Stick with 4mm for everyday leaf, debris, bird and mouse protection. If you're in a bushfire-prone area, the 2mm Ember Guard (2mm x 2mm aperture) is the fire choice — it stops wind-borne embers plus finer debris, and is AS 3959-2018 compliant, suitable across BAL ratings, CSIRO tested and non-combustible.
What colours are available and how long does the coating last?
We carry the full Colorbond-matched colour range, bar a few discontinued shades the steel suppliers no longer offer. Our guard uses premium powder coating built for Australian conditions and is salt-spray tested past 1000 hours, so it resists the fading and rusty screw coatings you get from cheap overseas imports.
What's the warranty and shipping?
It carries our 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covering degradation of the material itself — the mesh and coating breaking down or fading; it doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect. Shipping is free over $500 (flat $20 under that), dispatched same or next business day from our Gold Coast warehouse, with 1-7 days to most metro areas.
