2mm Aluminium Kits - NOW AVAILABLE

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this kit actually fire rated, and what does that mean for my place?
Yes — the 2mm Ember Guard mesh is non-combustible aluminium and is suitable across BAL ratings under AS 3959-2018 (CSIRO tested). It's the right choice if you're in a bushfire-prone area and want to keep wind-borne embers out of your valleys and gutters.
How do I install it in a corrugated valley?
Lay the mesh evenly down the valley, then secure it in two passes. First place a saddle each side every 2 metres to hold the mesh straight, then fill in the rest on every corrugation — 21 saddles per metre across the valley. Focus on pushing the outer side of each saddle fully down into the low point; don't worry if the inner side lifts, the next saddle pushes that section down. Secure your ladder and use a harness.
What's the difference between this 2mm Ember Guard and your standard 4mm mesh?
The 4mm mesh (3mm x 4mm aperture) stops leaves, twigs, debris, birds and mice — that's standard leaf protection. The 2mm Ember Guard (2mm x 2mm aperture) has a finer weave that stops wind-borne embers plus smaller debris, which is why it's the fire-rated option.
Will this stop my gutters from ever needing a clean again?
Honestly, no — gutter guard minimises debris, it doesn't eliminate it. Very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still sit on top or work through, so think of this as drastically reducing maintenance, not ending it. Anyone promising a permanent no-clean fix isn't being straight with you.
What's actually in the corrugated valley guard kit?
It's a DIY kit built for corrugated roofs at the valley, with the 2mm Ember Guard mesh plus the saddles, clips and Class 3 screws to fix it off — saddles and clips are sourced from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®. If your roof or box gutter is unusual, give us a call on 1300 156 197 and we'll build a custom kit.
How is it sold, and can I get it in my roof colour?
Mesh is sold in 10-metre increments (not per metre), and trims and screw coatings are Colorbond-matched — the full colour range is available bar a few discontinued colours the steel suppliers no longer offer. Need a non-standard mesh width? We can cut to size for a small $25-per-roll cut fee.
Why pay more for this over a cheap imported mesh?
Our guard uses locally-sourced steel from leading Australian suppliers and a premium powder coating, salt-spray tested past 1000 hours for coastal Gold Coast conditions. Cheap overseas imports can look fine out of the box but fade fast and their screws can go rusty-red — local steel and a proper coating are why ours lasts.
What does the 20-year warranty actually cover?
It covers degradation of the material itself — the mesh and coating breaking down or fading over 20 years. It doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, because no gutter guard is indestructible — we'd rather be upfront than over-promise.
Is this hard to install myself, and what about shipping?
It's designed for DIY — follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time. Shipping is free over $500 (flat $20 under), dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse same or next business day, typically 1–7 days to metro areas.
