2mm Aluminium Kits - NOW AVAILABLE

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this kit actually fire rated, and which BAL ratings does it suit?
Yes — the 2mm Ember Guard mesh is non-combustible and CSIRO tested, and the kit is designed to be AS 3959-2018 compliant and suitable across BAL ratings for bushfire-prone areas. We don't make specific BAL-40 or Flame Zone claims here, so if your bushfire attack level is severe, confirm your exact requirement with your certifier or council first.
How do I install it on a box gutter?
The roof side installs like a standard corrugated gutter (saddles on every second corrugation, 7 per metre). The gutter side connects to your parapet wall with the trims provided — an L-shaped trim suits the top of the parapet, a flat trim suits attaching lower down its face. Most important: plug every temporary screw hole. The screws that hold the mesh while you fit the trims come out afterwards, and because parapet tops are flat and water can pool there, any unplugged hole left under the trim can cause extensive damage. Plug each one as you go.
What's the difference between this 2mm Ember Guard and your standard 4mm mesh?
The 2mm x 2mm aperture stops wind-borne embers plus finer debris, which is why it's the fire/bushfire choice. Our standard 3mm x 4mm mesh handles leaves, twigs, birds and mice but won't stop embers — if ember protection matters to you, go with this 2mm kit. Worth knowing either way: gutter guard minimises debris, it doesn't eliminate it entirely — very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still sit on top or work through.
Why is this a 'box gutter' kit, and what's the 500mm for?
Box gutters (and wide corrugated valleys) are flat, wide channels that standard gutter kits don't cover, so this kit is built around a 500mm mesh width to span them. If your box gutter is an unusual width or shape, call us on 1300 156 197 — we build custom kits for tricky roofs and box gutters all the time.
What comes in the kit and how is it sold?
The kit pairs the 500mm 2mm Ember Guard mesh with the matching fixings to secure it across a corrugated box gutter. Mesh is sold in 10-metre (10m) increments, not per metre, so order to the nearest 10m of run you need to cover.
What colours can I get, and can the width be cut to suit?
We offer the full Colorbond-matched colour range except a few shades the steel suppliers have discontinued. If you need a custom mesh width, we can cut to size for a small $25-per-roll cut fee — just ask when you order.
How do I install it, and is it really DIY?
Yes, it's designed for DIY — follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time on the roof. Box gutters are flat and wide, so they're actually one of the more straightforward runs to work along once you're set up safely. If you'd rather not go up yourself, the kit is just as easily fitted by a local handyman or roofer.
What does the 20-year warranty actually cover?
Our 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself — the mesh and powder coating breaking down or fading. We use locally-sourced Australian steel and premium powder coating, salt-spray tested past 1000 hours for coastal durability, which is why cheaper imported guard tends to fade and go rusty long before ours does. The warranty doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, and remember gutter guard minimises maintenance rather than eliminating it entirely.
What's the shipping cost and how fast do you dispatch?
Shipping is free on orders over $500, or a flat $20 under $500, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse with 1–7 days to most metro areas. We dispatch same or next business day depending on stock.
