Frequently Asked Questions

What does the 2mm Ember Guard mesh actually stop?
The 2mm x 2mm aperture stops wind-borne embers plus finer debris, on top of the usual leaves, twigs, birds and mice. It's our fire-conscious choice, designed to AS 3959-2018 and CSIRO tested. Honest note: gutter guard minimises debris, it doesn't eliminate it. Very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still sit on top or work through, so it reduces cleaning rather than ending it forever.
Is 750mm the right width for my roof?
750mm is a wide roll, suited to broader runs like tile valleys and larger box gutters where you need plenty of mesh to span the channel. Narrower rolls suit standard gutter lines, so it's worth matching the width to what you're actually covering rather than over-buying. One honest tip: if you're guarding gutters for birds only, you generally don't need to mesh the valleys at all (many places will upsell valley mesh you may not need), so work out what you're really solving first. If you're unsure which width or layout fits your roof, call us on 1300 156 197 and we'll size it with you.
This is mesh only, so what about the saddles, clips and screws?
Correct, this listing is the aluminium mesh roll on its own, no fixings included. If you'd rather not source the hardware separately, we also sell complete kits with the saddles, clips and Colorbond-matched, class 3 screws sorted. Call us on 1300 156 197 and we'll point you to the right kit or build a custom one for an unusual roof or box gutter.
How is it sold, and can you cut it to a custom width?
It's sold in 10-metre increments (per 10m roll), not by the single metre, so order to the nearest 10m above your run. We can also cut a custom width from the roll for a small $25-per-roll cut fee if 750mm isn't quite what your gutter line needs. Just ask when you order.
Will this stop possums getting into my roof?
No, and we'd rather be straight with you. Aluminium mesh handles birds, mice and leaves, but a determined possum will rip through it, we've seen jobs where they've torn aluminium apart to get back to their young in the roof. Possums need a steel mesh; we can source steel kits on request, so give us a call before you buy if possums are the real problem.
Why pay more for your mesh over a cheap import?
The mesh itself is quality aluminium with a premium powder coating, and where steel components are involved we use locally-sourced steel from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®. Cheap overseas product can look fine on day one then fade fast, with screw coatings that go rusty-red; ours is salt-spray tested past 1000 hours for coastal Gold Coast and Queensland conditions. That durability is the difference you're paying for.
What does the 20-year warranty cover?
Our 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself, the mesh and coating breaking down or fading over time. It doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, because guard is about minimising maintenance, not removing it entirely. Keeping that expectation honest is how we'd want it explained to us.
What about colours, delivery and fitting it myself?
The mesh comes in our full Colorbond-matched colour range, bar a few shades steel suppliers have discontinued. Shipping is free over $500 and a flat $20 under, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse same or next business day, with metro delivery typically 1-7 days. It's designed for DIY: follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time.
