The 2mm x 2mm aperture is our fire choice: it blocks wind-borne embers plus finer debris, on top of the leaves, twigs, birds and mice a standard 4mm guard handles. Honestly though, gutter guard minimises debris rather than eliminating it, so very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still pass or sit on top. There's no perfect 'never clean again' product short of having no gutter at all, so we'd rather set that expectation up front.

No. Aluminium handles birds, mice and leaves, but a determined possum will rip through it. We've seen aluminium torn open by possums getting back to their young in the roof, so if possums are your concern you need a steel mesh.
