Frequently Asked Questions
Is this kit made for a Trimdek roof?
Yes. This 4mm kit is purpose-built for Trimdek and similar trapezoidal steel profiles, with the mesh, saddles and trims sized to suit that roof. If your roof is tile, Klip-Lok or you have box gutters or awkward valleys, give us a call on 1300 156 197 and we'll match or custom-build the right kit.
How do I install it on a Trimdek roof?
Roll the mesh out and pin it. Fit the trims to the gutter lip first, then install the saddles at 6 per metre. The key tip: make a 5cm relief cut in the mesh directly under where each saddle sits, running down the spine of the high point toward the gutter — this lets the mesh flex into the low point so the saddle pins it flush with no gaps for debris. Secure your ladder and use a harness.
What's actually in the kit?
Each kit includes the 4mm aluminium gutter guard mesh, saddles and clips (steel from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®), Colorbond-matched trims to suit your roof colour, and Class-3 self-drilling screws. It's a complete DIY package - mesh, fixings and trims in the one kit.
What does the 4mm mesh keep out?
The 4mm aperture (3mm x 4mm) stops leaves, twigs, general debris, birds and mice - it's the standard leaf-and-debris choice. Being honest: gutter guard minimises maintenance, it doesn't eliminate it, so very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still pass through or sit on top.
Will this stop possums getting into my roof?
No - aluminium mesh won't stop a determined possum, and we've seen possums tear straight through aluminium to get back to their young. If possums are your concern you need a steel mesh; we can source steel kits on request, so call us on 1300 156 197.
How is it sold, and can I get a custom width?
The mesh is sold in 10-metre (10m) increments, not per metre. We can cut custom mesh widths for unusual gutters for a small $25-per-roll cut fee - just let us know what you need.
What colours can I get, and how do they hold up?
The full Colorbond-matched range is available except a few discontinued colours the steel suppliers no longer offer. We use locally-sourced steel and a premium powder coating that's salt-spray tested (1000+ hours), so it resists the fading and rusty-red screws you can get with cheap overseas imports - that's why it lasts in our coastal conditions.
What does the 20-year warranty cover?
The 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself - the mesh and coating breaking down or fading over time. It doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, since gutter guard is about minimising maintenance rather than being a permanent no-clean fix.
How hard is it to install myself, and what about shipping?
It's designed for DIY - follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time. Shipping is free on orders over $500 and a flat $20 under that, dispatched same or next business day from our Gold Coast warehouse, typically 1-7 days to metro areas.
