Frequently Asked Questions
What's the 500mm width best suited for?
The 500mm roll is our most versatile width and suits tiled roofs and most standard box gutters. If you've got corrugated, Trimdek or Klip-Lok profiles, 250mm is usually plenty; for wide tile valleys or large box gutters, step up to 750mm or 1000mm. Not sure what your roof needs? Call us on 1300 156 197 and we'll talk it through.
What does the 4mm mesh actually stop?
The 4mm aperture (3mm x 4mm) blocks leaves, twigs and general debris, and it keeps birds and mice out of your gutters and roof. Be honest with yourself though — gutter guard minimises maintenance, it doesn't eliminate it; very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still pass through or sit on top. No guard short of having no gutter at all is truly 'never clean again', and anyone telling you otherwise is overselling it.
This is mesh only — what about saddles, clips and screws?
Correct, this listing is the aluminium mesh roll on its own, ideal if you already have your fixings or are matching an existing setup. If you need the lot, grab one of our full kits instead, which include Colorbond-matched trims, steel saddles and clips from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®, and Class 3 self-drilling screws.
How is it sold, and can you cut it to a custom width?
It's sold in 10-metre increments (this is one 10m roll), not by the single metre. We can cut mesh to a custom width for a small $25-per-roll cut fee — just get in touch on 1300 156 197 before you order.
Will the 4mm mesh keep possums out?
No — aluminium won't stop a determined possum, and we've seen jobs where they've torn straight through it to get back to their young in the roof. If possums are your concern you need a steel mesh; we can source steel kits on request, so give us a call on 1300 156 197 rather than relying on aluminium. One tip worth knowing too: if it's only birds you're worried about, you generally only need guard on the gutters themselves, not the valleys — no need to pay for valley mesh you won't use.
I'm in a bushfire area — is 4mm the right choice?
For ember protection you want our 2mm Ember Guard mesh, not the 4mm — the finer 2mm x 2mm aperture is designed to stop wind-borne embers as well as finer debris. Our mesh is non-combustible, AS 3959-2018 compliant and CSIRO tested, suitable across BAL ratings; if fire is the priority, switch to the 2mm Ember Guard.
How long does the aluminium mesh last, and what's the warranty?
It carries our 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covering degradation of the material itself — the mesh and coating breaking down or fading. It doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, so think of it as minimisation rather than a permanent no-maintenance fix. We use locally-sourced steel and a premium powder coating, and our materials are salt-spray tested (1000+ hours), so unlike cheap overseas imports that fade fast and rust at the screws, ours holds its colour and stands up well in coastal conditions.
What does delivery cost and how fast is it?
Shipping is free on orders over $500, or a flat $20 under $500, dispatched from our Gold Coast warehouse with most metro deliveries landing in 1–7 days. We dispatch same or next business day depending on stock — we've got extra packing staff on board to keep things moving. It's designed for DIY install, so follow our installation guides, secure your ladder, use a harness and take your time.
