Frequently Asked Questions

Is 500mm the right width for my roof?
500mm is our most popular mesh-only width and suits tile roofs and most box gutters. If you have a corrugated, Trimdek or Klip-Lok profile, 250mm is usually the better fit; for wide tile valleys or large box gutters, step up to 750mm or 1000mm. Not sure which suits your roof? Give us a call on 1300 156 197 and we'll point you the right way.
What does the 2mm Ember Guard actually stop?
The 2mm x 2mm aperture is our fire choice: it blocks wind-borne embers plus finer debris, on top of the leaves, twigs, birds and mice a standard 4mm guard handles. Be realistic though - guard minimises maintenance, it does not eliminate it; very fine matter like seeds, blossom and pine needles can still pass through or sit on top. There's no such thing as a perfect 'never clean again' solution short of having no gutter at all - what this does is dramatically cut how often you're up the ladder.
Is this fire compliant for a bushfire area?
Yes - the 2mm Ember Guard is designed for ember protection and is AS 3959-2018 compliant, CSIRO tested and non-combustible aluminium, suitable across BAL ratings. If you want us to confirm the right setup for your specific situation, give us a call on 1300 156 197.
This is mesh only - what about saddles, clips and screws?
Correct, this listing is the mesh roll on its own, which suits people who already have fixings or want to source their own. If you'd prefer everything in one go, we also sell full kits with Colorbond-matched trims, steel saddles and clips from leading Australian suppliers including BlueScope®, and Class 3 screws.
How is it sold, and can I get a custom width?
Mesh is sold in 10-metre increments (one roll = 10m), not per metre. If 500mm isn't quite right we can cut a custom width for a small $25-per-roll cut fee - just call 1300 156 197 to arrange it. We can also build custom kits for unusual roofs or box gutters on request.
Will it fade or the screws go rusty near the coast?
Our guard uses locally-sourced steel from leading Australian suppliers and a premium powder coating, salt-spray tested past 1000 hours for coastal durability. Cheap overseas imports can look fine at first but fade fast and their screw coatings can turn rusty-red - that's the difference local steel and proper coating make. If you're right on the coast, this is exactly the kind of setup we'd recommend.
What does the 20-year warranty cover?
The 20-Year Industry-Leading Warranty covers degradation of the material itself - the mesh and coating breaking down or fading. It doesn't cover damage from falling branches, hail or neglect, since gutter guard is about minimising maintenance, not a permanent no-clean fix. We'd rather be straight with you up front than over-promise.
What's the shipping and dispatch like?
Shipping is free on orders over $500, or a flat $20 under that. We dispatch from our Gold Coast warehouse same or next business day depending on stock, with roughly 1-7 days to most metro areas.
Will this keep possums out of my roof?
Honestly, no - aluminium mesh stops birds, mice, leaves and embers, but a determined possum will rip straight through it. We've seen jobs where possums tore through aluminium guard to get back to their young in the roof. If possums are your concern you need a steel mesh, which we can source on request - give us a call on 1300 156 197 and we'll sort a steel option for you.
How do I install the mesh myself?
It's designed for DIY - follow our installation guides, take your time and work safely: secure your ladder, use a harness, and don't rush it. If you'd rather not climb up yourself, or you've got an unusual roof or box gutters, give us a call on 1300 156 197.
